On foot safaris with the Big 5
Truly “remote” , Mana Pools National Park is located in the far north of Zimbabwe, right on the Zambezi River and far from all major cities and villages. Known to be one of the least developed National Parks in all of Africa. Austral, Mana is a paradise for birds and wildlife, especially during the dry season from June to October.
The name of the park derives from the word Shona meaning “Four” and refers to the four great lakes that are formed by the Zambezi River. The lakes provide a magnificent backdrop to the reserve, with 2,500 km2 of river banks and sand banks flanked by large lush forests of wild figs, Boababs and mahogany trees.
The most famous activity of this park is a walking safari and it is a real privilege to be able to walk among the wildlife in this magnificent part of the world.
